That moment when you realize the first 6/9 games are against playoff teams in October.. No fast start for us... 3-6 it'll be

Too early for the McKinnon or Seth jones chants?

Unfortunately I wasn't going to be able to get up there this summer anyway.

The yr I did get to go to the game. There were some ups and downs with the folks in charge.

We did have a good time though.

One of the more, shall I say, Interesting Mock Drafts. This one provided by ESPN Insider.

Since I'm not a subscriber. I can only give you their profile on the 1st pick. But I will include their top 5 picks.

# 1 Pick: Edmonton Oilers
Ryan Murray, D, Everett (WHL)

It's a bit of a surprise, but it's not a stunner based on what we know. The Oilers have come out and said they will not trade the pick, so we're led to believe they'll use the pick themselves. After drafting heavy at forward the past two drafts, Edmonton needs a blue-chip blueliner, and we know they like Murray from his time at the recent IIHF Men's World Championships. Taking a defenseman at No. 1 overall is risky, but Murray projects as a smooth skater who can make the smart play with and without the puck. If the Oilers have Murray comparably rated to Nail Yakupov, our No. 1 prospect in this class, then this isn't an odd move at all. We just happen to like Yakupov as a clear-cut top choice.

Even given the Oilers' declaration that they won't trade the pick, there's still a chance they spin off one of their current top forwards in exchange for a more-developed defenseman who could help them a little faster than an 18-year-old can. In that case, Yakupov could still be in play here. But if not, the young Russian -- long projected as the pick of the 2012 litter -- could actually slip down the draft board a bit.

This is the 1st time I've heard that the Oilers Will NOT consider trading the Pick!

Sounds like something Garth would do. (draft Forsberg when Yakupov is still there) By the way it seems Forsberg will be their guy...

This happens in every sports' draft. The closer you get the more ridiculous the prognosticators' predictions become. Oil will draft Yakupov and some combination of Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, Murray and Forsberg will be the next four picks. Nobody is drafting Reinhart at 1 or Dumba at 4 when they could trade down and get them, along with extra picks.

They didn't have enough seating for the St. Anthony's-Chaminade regular season game this past season. Unless they're taking the old 100's and putting them in

I don't understand that whatsoever. It's limited to 250 tickets when, at least, 5x that would show up for the game at the Coli. For a team that is desperate for every penny you'd think they'd want to milk that game for all it's worth.

Man its dead on here today. Maybe this will generate some chatter.

Renaud P Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS Whoever he is? TWEETS.

According to sources out of Long Island, it appears PA Parenteau is headed to free agency on July 1.

OK nothing that U & I hadnt figured out on our own.

But now its been reported (video clip on TSN) that Montreal is OPEN MINDED about their #3 overall pick and are exploring options for a top 6 forward.

So how about this: Would this work? Is it feasible? Or just plain Dumb? (boy did I open myself up for that one )

We give Montreal the Negotiating rights to PAP. In addition we trade them KO and a late rd draft pick. Say a 3rd or 4th rd pick.

In exchange we get their 3rd overall pick.

Lets say that both parties go for that. We wind up with the 3rd and 4th overall picks in this yrs draft. Montreal gets KO, a draft pick and the rights to PAP. Who just might like it up in Montreal.

AAAHHH! I'm not stopping there.

Now we give the Oilers a call.

We offer them the 3rd and 4th overall picks in the draft for their 1st overall and their 3rd or 4th rd pick.

We get Nail. Oilers Get a top "D" and a top "Forward"

In essence we actually received the 1st overall pick for Kyle Okposo. Because PAP aint signing here anyway.

OK boys and girls. Take your best shot. Its been a slow day.

I'll start by saying I don't think Okposo, PA's rights, and a mid-round pick are enough for the 3rd overall. But since it's a slow day...assuming Bergevin was inhaling some bath salts that day and accepted it...I would much rather keep the 3rd and 4th overall picks then trade it for #1. Why give the Oil a top D and a top F when we could have that? Yakupov is probably the best player in the draft, but I'd take someone who's hardly a notch below him AND a really good defenseman over him any day of the week.

the only problem with this is, who do we have to score now? Losing PA(although almost expected at this point) and Okposo means we are going to lose thirty percent of our scoring, who do we get to replace that?

BAth salts are extremely popular right now due to the low cost and extreme high!!!

I expected that. And I agree. But for the sake debate.... Called the Oilers.

needing every penny they can get is irrelevant being that they are donating proceeds to charity, but regardless its a dumb decision to limit it to 250 people....how amazing would it be if it doesnt sell out?

Yeah I saw the charity thing after I wrote that. Still, they'd probably want to maximize their tax-writeoff

Under that scenario, we'd actually be getting Nail for KO and #4 overall. I'd be all for it, but its not happnening. Honestly, if Snow could fleece Bergevin into trading #3 overall for KO, PAP's rights and a mid round pick, he should be handed Executive of the Year honor at the draft. However, if Snow did actually get #3 overall without giving up #4 overall, I think I'd rather have those two picks than #1 overall by itself.
